Which parts wold be the best to replace, in order to gain traction and increase overall handling performance.
I have also bought a lowering control arm kit for the front, and lowering blocks in the rear

A different vehicle would be a pretty good start.

Something about this just doesn't scream track truck

I drove one of these for a while. It was actually a really good little truck.

Polyurethane bushings would tighten up the front end.

I'd also just make sure things like tie rods are in good health.

What about new sway bars? Would that be worth the 2 or 3 hundred bucks?

I'd still check the bushings first. The sway bars may have old bad rubber bushings currently.

Just upgrading the sway bar bushings to polyurethane will give you a noticeable change. I'd wait on the larger diameter sway bars, for now, unless you really want to spend your money.

...believe there is a saying about that though...

Now are you dead set on trying to make this turn better? Or do you just want small improvements over the steering wheel inputs

Maybe not the direction you're going but what tires are on it?

I am doing minor tweaks for now, but eventually want to take it to an auto cross event. It has much more body roll than I like and is kind of sloppy in terms of feedback.

And I have cooper tires, ZEON RS3 235/50R17
