anyone own a recent one?

I am looking to buy one a new truck within an year
but it seem like nothing is what I'm looking for
I'm looking for a truck to go fishing up north during summer and 4x4 is allway nice during winter, and maybe towing a small boat

I love the new gmc canyon/chevy colorado but the air dam ruin all off road abilities
question; has anyone removed the air dam? I have read on the internet that you can not permantly remove it because it will mess up air flow
I like the new tacoma but the interior seem small and the mpg just sucks
question; have you seat in one, how tall are you? and is the mpg that bad?

anyone heard anything about the new ranger and frontier?

Nissan are junk.
Canyon/Colorado are junk.
Rangers are decent but fuel consumption is bad.

Get the Tacoma, or go full size. The v6 aren't bad on fuel at all.

I personally don't like midsize trucks as this is like a jeep.

If you want 4x4 or integral, tow a little boat, have good mpg, have interior room for luggages, equipement, I would suggest you look into jeeps like sportage, crosstrek, etc

If you need the bed of a truck to put outdoor equipement, chainsaw, wood etc, I would suggest a fullsize truck like ram, f-150, silverado etc.

Those have a little bit higher price but mpg is not that bad and you have more room to play with. Think about if you ever will have a bigger boat, bigger loads etc.

I bought last year a F-150, 4-door supercrew, V8-5L and it's doing around 12L/100km (23mpg) unloaded.

If you want to compromise, you could also get a 2 door fullsize or 4-door suicide fullsize which would cost a lower price.

I believe you could even get a brand new one for like 28k-35k, depending of the brand and equipement. You also can have good revate if your company is affiliated with a truck brand (for company truck pool etc).

I'm a little bit biased because my dad and I always had Fords, but we never encountered big problems. My father's oldy 1998 F-150 (tritton) was sold in 2010 for like 6k$ and only problem was a small exhaust manifold leak and a small transfercase leak.

Hope this help with your choice.

Let's be honest. Jeeps are half ton truck money.

Just get a half ton truck.

I have grown very fond of my 2000 frontier,
truck has never let me down, even after 15 years and 230000 miles.

Not sure about the new ones though :)

06 Frontier owner here. 6 Speed - Why I bought the truck. I regularly tow boats ranging from 15-30 feet.

Currently at 15X,XXX miles -90k of which are my miles. Zero issues as well...At least none that were the truck's fault :D

As a comparison, I was startled when I drove a gasser 2009 Chevrolet 2500 yesterday to help a buddy inspect and tow a boat back from NYC - That truck fucking sucked. Seats are absolutely horrible. Rode harsh, but had Bose speakers (woot?). 12 hours in that truck, next day, my back feels like I got in an MMA fight. I was not impressed. I can not believe someone paid like 50 grand at one time for that. Mind blowing.

The Tacoma isn't a bad truck, Also available in stick....but they are known for rusting very badly - some so much, that frame replacement/recalls were issued. For that alone, I personally stay away from them.

Those are apples and oranges. It may have been a gas engine but the suspension is designed to tow 12000lbs. The frontier has a fraction of the springrate. 1/4 ton vs 3/4 ton. 1/2 ton is the answer here... Throw some decent shocks (bilstein) on it and get the best of both worlds.

Edit: You should ride in a 2nd gen Ram 2500/3500. That 09 chevy will feel like riding on a cloud in comparison lol.

Silveraydo 1500 or bust imo
If I were to buy a midsize truck it would likely be a Toyota Tacoma though

the only reason I'm getting a truck is to go fishing, most good lakes up north require a 4x4, espicially in the beggening of the season when the snow just melted, the road are terrible
so the only thing I need is ground clearance, enough room to put all my fishing gear + a kayak/small boat and what ever I would need
so midsize trucks just seem to be what I need

I would actually take a 4 cylinder midsize if it would be possible cuz I will never tow anything much more then a 12 ft boat/kayak ..which I can already do with my lancer
