Hi guys! I'm new to buying used cars or any kind of car for that matter. I just wanted tips, opinions, etc from others on what I should do (type of car model, etc)

I am still a college student.

It does not matter. Find the one with the least amount of miles, runs the best, has the best carfax. Are you wanting to buy from a dealership or private seller? Getting a loan or paying cash? What type of driving will you be doing? How long do you plan on keeping it?

Lots of things to consider.

Not really dude. Yea, they ain't bad but honda's are really overrated in the USA.

I worked in the accounting dept. for a 3rd party Asian (heat treating) company (Trutec), who has many of their own engineers testing car parts. Many were from Japan and over there, Honda's are considered the econobox cheap cars. The big shots for Trutec drove Acura's but that's as close to driving a Honda they'd go. Being in Ohio and their main customer was Honda (in Marysville) so the big shots kinda had to drive something Honda related.

The Japs I worked with like Toyota's the most. Nissan's next.

Find a private seller in some nice suburb. Some one owner car which some soccer mom drove on occasion running her brats to practice, whatever. Carfax CAN tell you a lot. If some car has been flipped multiple times within a year....kinda tells you something is up.

Don't buy some used car from some shady ass dude who has multiple junk cars pared around his double wide trailer. He's some shady mechanic flipping junk. Search craigs list! If the photo is taken in a shitty neighborhood, most likely they (also) couldn't afford basic car service either.
