anyone know of good banks that give decent rates on privately financed cars? i want to buy my friends car.

Depends on the year of the vehicle and the term you want to finance it over, and it will also help if you have the loan secured with an investment or collateral, unsecured loans are typically higher interest.
Also your score isn't as important as your credit history for most banks.

This. Credit unions generally have a percent or so lower interest rates at any given time than a standard bank.
