Afher some fun with the turbo acura el my budy finnaly got it painted and it sold just under 3k. He already had his mind set for a turbo d16 but this time, the goal is in the 500 whp range.

so the main idea behind this car is light chassi, built engine/tranny, big turbo (for this engine anyways) and lots of fun.
not sure on witch management system to use yet.

the weapon of choice is a 1990 honda civic hatch, witch had been striped, roll bared, had rear disc conversion and after market suspension installed by the previous owner.
the shell was bought with a bunch of parts and goodies. i say shell but its a complete running car.
the turbo has also been purchased
sry about the shitty pictures they are a cut from phone screenshots

why no b swap? the d series is a TON of work to hit 500 hp, might as well do that much work on a worthy motor in my eyes. And a b18 is only $400-500 for a lower mileage one. And 150 for mounts.

Not trying to make 500 hp no.. Yes a d series is cheaper to make 200-300 but when you start getting to 500 whp where the d series will start to top out you are talking serious cash.. The b series will get there a lot easier and cheaper in the end. Make a post on the d series forum to see how much this is actually going to cost you to make 500 whp out of a d swap.

Wont be easy, will have to go to a really good tuner.

I dunno if they are having the internal work and such done at a shop, and having it professionally tuned. i don't get why you would skip on on just spending a little bit more and having much more potential. Since all the motor work and tuning will cost the same. Why not spend 2000 more to have a built b series that will hit 500 whp a lot easier than a d16.. And have a lot more potential to go even higher.

He has the turbo already also, and for 500 whp with decent spool he is going to want a gt30 turbo to make 500 with an equal length turbo manifold.

OP what turbo did you end up getting? What tuning software you going with?
