whats the real difference between like a cheap One vs like a MSD or Mallory

/I've has MSD and Mallory but I've never bought one and never rly noticed a difference... Now that I'm in the market idk which route to go with them

Also rockers, been debating if I should replace them when I do the cam, I know a better ones will move better and have better performance but will the stock ones mess the lifters or Cam up if I get a high lift on the cam?


Building a 305 for my truck, woulda went with 350 but I happen to have a 305 with flat top pistons chillin

msd is the only stuff ill put in my cars, never had an issue

that being said i know some guys that use mallory

I've heard guys get away with not changing rockers when they do a cam swap but i'll be completely honest. I tried it one time when I was young on a 340 and I got burned...

Ever since i've always done Cam, lifters, push rods, rockers, springs and valves all at the same time. It's just good practice in my opinion.

Stock gen I SBC rockers will not.give you a good wipe pattern with a high lift cam. Since it is a 305, for the love of god don't over-cam it. It will be a complete dog. The tiny bore won't make any top end, and a big cam will erase any bottom end it had. Go mild with the cam specs and spend money on the heads.

pft we all know if you dont have the biggest donkey dick cam you can find its not worth buying said every jipsy kid in st louis
