First time posting here so its prob a hit or miss. Anyway long story short a friend of mine needs cash
and is selling one of toys. Its a 2011 Corolla XRS with 35k miles on it and he wants 8 large for it.

My question is really isnt about value because at this price its very good but hes the kicker
It has a turbo, now i've never owned a car with a aftermarket turbo. My original plan was to buy it and flip for a decent profit
but after driving it, I really enjoyed it so i got the idea of maybe keeping it. Now I know for a fact that the car is mechanically in pristine condition
Friends a huge car guy, hes owned the car since new and kept it that way. The clutch and transmission were literally flawless when i drove it

My only fear of keeping it is the turbo.
Can you daily drive a turbo'd car?
How many miles does a turbo last? (currently it has 3k on it)
is there any special maintenance that a turbo'd car requires?
Last question has anyone here owned a XRS turbo or not, and just share there experience with it?

I would scoop that up as a daily. I think they look decent. If you don't know about cars I would recommend learning a bit about turbos as you will want to keep an eye on some things. Get a parts list if you can, if it's a cheap turbo I would flip it and buy something else though.

If you keep everything in check a turbo car will last a long time.

Not pristine
Clutch and tranny won't be pristine for long
You can DD an aftermarket build if it's done right

In my honest opinion, stay away... If it was a stock corolla, I'd say go for it.

He said the turbo cost him $1300 new + labor from a mechanic him and me both know very well,
I've been reading up some stuff online and it looks like as long as I dont think im on a race track every time i drive
the turbo should last long.

Its a corolla with 35k, im confused I thought these were very reliable.
I really don't have fear of the install not being done right, because I know guy and i know the mechanic.
Just looking for people with experience owning a turbo'd car

I know it sounds a little ridiculous, but the car is fun to drive youd be surprised.

Well considering turbos force more air into the system thus needing more fuel to make the appropriate mixture for combustion, I'd say you are wrong.

Take my n.a. 2.2 l and compare mine ( and jist about everyone els) to the 2.0 tc or sc and the boosted gets way better. Provided you can keep your ffoot out of it at every red light. They are much more efficient. ( p.s I'm taking cobalts here)
