My truck threw a CEL today. Catalytic converter bank 2. I'm guessing my cats are clogged. 170k miles on the truck. 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6. I really don't want aftermarket exhaust, but I also want my cats gone because I'm not paying $2k for new cats. Any other tricks?

Take it your local Monroe or someone who can just straight pipe it for you. I did this to my truck years ago and was fairly cheap.

I don't think I can do that. The cat and header are one peice along with the O2 snesor. Then there is a secondary cat further back. I could see cutting out the secondary cats and re-priping, but not the header cats.

Yea, I never ran into this. Guessing the manifold needs to be replaced unless someone knows a different fix. Good luck tho

Prob' illegal to cut off the 2nd cat. Prob' need to know somebody who'll do it for cash and no receipt, if ya kno' wut i mean. ;)

Header with a built in cat? Downer....sounds expensive.

not worried about the legality. I live in the sticks. No emissions. I was reading about o2 sensor simulators that delete the o2 sensors. But I still want the cats gone because it's robbing power if it's clogged up.

Leave the upstream O2's in place, go to an exhaust shop and let them cut and weld. It's metal. Anything is possible.

A little elbow grease.
Take the pipes off, ram something in there to break up the material. Basically beat the inside out. If you have a bunch of stupid bends you may need to cut it, ram a pipe through till clear. 're weld. Take you a few hours at most and electricity bill for the welder .

known as hollowing. Heh I've done it.

Looks like you could shadily fab a test-pipe in place of the cat that runs after the sensor if you take your manifolds off.
