It's my girlfriend's 98 blazer. No heat not a big deal, but it rained and fogged up the windows and she almost crashed last night so probably a good thing to fix.

It blows air, just not hot

Can you please let me know things I can test easily myself before I shell out money to a mechanic? If none work, what the common reasons for this and the typical costs to fix?

Thank you!!

Unhook the coolant hoses going to and coming from the heater core and try to flush water through them in both directions. If it blows air but it doesn't get hot then a clogged heater core is most likely.

eah.....

sounds like the notorious heater core to me.....

is the passenger floorboard/carpet damp?

and boy are they fun to replace, id like to think im a fairly good knuckle buster, and it took me 5ish hours to change my brothers on his 2000 blazer, you have to pull the dash, its awesome

repair shops charge like 800-1300 to repair a 30$ part.

sucky.... wish there was just a way to change it like on my bronco where you just pull the glove box out
