It could have started in the 20-30 year range too or earlier. About 25 years ago my best friends grandpa died. We were going through his garage and he had a case of oil in there that was at least 10-15 years old and this was the oil containers they made out of paper lined with foil and it was still good. I put it in a nova I had that leaked about a quart of oil every 200 miles or so.
