Hello everyone,

I am currently shopping for a brand new snowmobile and I was looking forward the 2016 PRO RMK 800 with a 155" track 2.6"

All the seller tell me that there's a new chassis and engine (the axys clean fire HO that was in previous switchback) but none of them can tell me the difference with the old 800. I checked on internet and found that there are some new exhaust valves, a lighter vilbrequin (don't know the english name for it), better power/reeds and blabla.

Is this engine safe ? I'm not going to race it as hell since it'll be my first "big sled" and I don't want to die so soon. I also heard they replaced the chain case for a belt one a few year back and they had trouble with the pulley/bearings loosing, destroying the belt. Is it better now ?

I'm going to play around with it with my buddies and we plan to do "expeditions" haha, jumping around and getting stuck in trees :p

Does anyone have inputs on this machine ? recommandation, what to bring when riding, what to buy, what equipment to buy/wear?

Inb4polaris
Inb4buyyamaha
Inb4buyarticcat
Inb4dontbuythisyouaretoonoob

I even write in bigger letter for less hate, thank you

I used to.

Last sled I had was a 800 rush (before the rmk)

Loved it. Always been a polaris fan when it comes to sleds. The riding position on these new sleds is pretty shit but other than that they are a good unit.

The motor you are looking at will eat up plugs. They all do, they run to rich. If you lean them out they turn into dogs. Just carry a spare set and throw them in when needed. Other than that, there were some valve issues people had because they ran them hot. I didn't have that issue because it was usually sub zero any time we rode. Ride it like a sled and it will treat you well. Ride it like some snowcross fag and tear up every inch of trail you can and you will be replacing parts along with teeth from the people who actually enjoy a clean trail rather than dirt in every corner and straits with holes bigger than lake Michigan.
