Sup guys I have an 05 zx6r

Starts up no problem. New battery.
Power band is where it should be when riding but after a 20-30min ride if I turn the bike off it won't start.

It doesn't turn off on me. When I try to restart it just clicks sometimes and sometimes it turns on but doesn't even try turning over. If I leave it sit for about 20min it starts right back up and is fine but it also eats Through gas.

Any suggestions on what it can. Happened ever since the oil got changed.

New battery, new tip over sensor, new kickstand sensor. I know the basics are covered.

Don't think there are many on here who ride motorcycles that I'd take advice from but I'm just waiting on a reply from another forum.

Running any kind of aftermarket tune? Power commander? I had a buddy that after replacing battery his tune got all messed up and wouldn't start at all. Perhaps same thing happened and is messing with hot start while cold start still ok?

I dunno just spitballing.

No power commander.
Running a yoshi full exhaust but no issues with over 15k on it.

I'm thinking either the knN oil filter is just messing with it but wouldn't explain y it won't turn on till it cools down or vapor locking..

Haven't tried removing the gas cap when it don't start.

Hot start is fine if it cooled down for a few minute. Sounds most like vapor locking or something along those lines.

are the battery terminals tight? Sounds silly, but so many people don't check the terminals.

it should have some kind of relay going towards the starter perhaps the relay or something is overheating and thats why it wont start immediately when hot

like bigbody said check battery terminal connections and then follow them check the connection at the starter too and any thing else like that.

You need to bust out a multimeter and start checking the starter circuit. Load test the battery. start with the basics. A fueling issue isn't causing the starter to fail at turning the engine over.

Terminals are fine. Did another ride and it's vapor locking. Gas is boiling until I open the gas cap and it starts no problem. But my vent isn't clogged. I have a tube coming off it and can blow into it.

Damn gremlins.

That wouldn't cause the starter relay to click and not turn over.

Yea I think it was just coincidence.

Thinking it might be the starter relay or solenoid.

Just got back and tried starting. Just starter kept clicking the second time I tried the bike acted as if battery was dead. Waiting 2min and it started right up.

Would that cause it to eat through fuel tho? And only once it's hot?maybe because it keeps kicking on while riding or is overheating?

It should completely unrelated to fuel consumption. Load test the battery. These bikes have undersized batteries to save weight. It doesn't take much for one to go bad. If the battery checks out fine test the charging system and ignition system as well as the starter circuit. If the battery needs replaced make sure you buy an AGM battery, not a lead-acid fill battery.
