I'm tired of my dad giving me crap for wanting to do stuff to the types he bought me, but he did buy my car so it is his call.

Been working and saving since last year. Working two jobs has paid off. I saved up 5k and am looking at coping a NA Miata, so the car will be mine.
Guy wants 3K, was stock until last year. Service was kept up (supposedly), lowered on God Speed coils, JNC 15x9 rims, has a new hood (but off color). Clutch was replaced 20k miles ago and car has 121k miles. Sounds like a really good deal, I just need to go drive the car.

I know miata parts are dirt cheap, but is there anything else I should consider or look at when buying this car?
Maybe something specific to the year or gen?

I'm still in highschool btw

Damn, that car is going to have a lot of rubber for a Miata, with 9" wheels.

That has potential to be a really fun car.

Look for rust, especially depending on where you live.

Also just give the engine the usual once over, inspecting for leaking gaskets, etc. Check for smoke when running...yada yada.

Also make sure the soft top doesn't leak. That can be a bummer.

it's mexiflush right now, kinda stanced.
That's how my car is right not, but my next car wont be that low. I am already tired of having to go side ways on every curb.
The soft top was also replaced within 10k mikes it says.

If I get the car I wanna try trade the rims for a set of lightweight 15x7.5's

I thought hair dressers made more money? Anywho as said above, rust is going to be the biggest thing. A leak down test wouldn't hurt either. I'd try looking in a Miata specific forum to see what the common weaknesses are.

If it's stanced, check over the bottom extremely well.. look for trashed and scraped up suspension parts, if any are worn through that can get pricey pending on the damage
