What are the best types of mods to put into a car this slow to make it fast? Would I have to get a bigger engine or is their parts that could actually make it faster?

what year are you looking at or do you have and how much money do you want to spend. And to you what is fast?

I have 3k to spend. It's also a 2004 (e46)

Don't bother with it. Only thing that would make it feel faster is a supercharger/turbocharger. I had a 330ci, nothing did it for me till I got a new car.

Keep it exceptionally clean, put style 5's on, sell for more than you paid

its a nice car, and its not exactly slow, but i want 400whp =/

To today's standards, its slow. Sell it, get any sports car that isnt BMW/Mercedes/Lexus and you'll have more fun modding it. My 330ci was a POS when it came to gains from mods. It looked pretty tho.
