so i have an volvo s60 2001

i got a weird problem with gear\rpm (not sure how its called in english.
betwen 40-80 kmh when i keep steady kmh without increasing it or decreasing, lets say go 60 steady, my rpm starts to jump by 200-300 up and back up and back till i increase or decrease gas.


if i drive above 80 steady it does not happen

any ideas?

Bad tach gauge?

Iunno, ny car does something similar at a certain speed. Mileage is ok, runs good otherwise. I turn a blind eye; until something els happens.

Might depend on where it's getting the signal, some tachs go off a crank position sensor, some a distributor, and also maybe a cam position sensor.

I guess il take it to mechanic one day, lol.

Well I took it to mechanic, he made a test drive and didn't recognie any problem, some people told me it could be throttle problem, possible? Should I ask to clean it.

Don't worry about it dude until it's much more noticeable.

yesterday and today the engine cut off when i stopped on red light....
start on without problems

could it be somthing with fuel related?

still got no time going to mechanic.. :/

no engine warning lights or anything.

so i finnaly got to the mechanic
they did computer test and found no problems

they cleaned the throttle+ fuel related thing


i must say , there is HUGE improvement in the car, im actually shocked. drives better, everything runs smoother, i cant even feel the tranny changes anymore....

but the problem of rpm jumps/dance at 50-80 kmh steady drive is still there. its feels less tho...

any ideas?
