If your key fob battery died why wouldn't you just replace the fob battery? A lot cheaper than buying a new fob. Also, there's guides online showing you how to do it yourself. Barring that it's not that expensive to get it reprogrammed at a dealer. Takes literally five minutes.
He did replace the battery. "The BATTERY in my remote went, I replaced IT." High school English.
Some electronics are like that where they lose their memory settings when you replace the battery. This is probably a safety/tamper mechanism.
My old car you hit a few buttons on the radio and it would show you that it was in the "sync" mode and then you held the unlock button down on the remote and pressed like lock unlock unlock lock or some combo to sync them.
Good luck!
