so I'm thinking about painting my old ford

I'm going to be using single stage paint an this is my first time ever using a paint gun, has anyone ever done that before I got the body work done and I rly want to do this whole project myself

How hard is it to lay down and look nice? Going to be painting it orange I figure thats one of the easier colors to do

I chose single stage because it seems like a easier option and how does single stage hold up compared to bc/cc?

Depends some on the color. Darker you go the better the body needs to be.

Light oranges are pretty easy and hide a lot of flaws.

Dark or burnt oranges are a cock sucker. About as bad as navy blue and black...

Enamel paints are the shit. I love them and when done correct look just as good as BC/CC. 90% of my personal cars / trucks that i've painted have been enamel paints.

when it comes to body work and paint. it doesn't matter if it's bc/cc or single stage. any flaw under the paint will show through it. Take time on the pre paint work and it will look good. Painting itself is not hard at all imo.

When I used to run Enamel paints I had really good luck with a few thin coats and then come back with a couple heavier coats. Really gave the paint some depth and came out nice.

As far as durability is concerned, they both fair about the same. They are both urethane.

Single stage is easier to spray, simply by the fact that it's a one spray application.

Single stage is, however, more difficult to touch up and match down the line.

Orange is a fun color to spray, stick the the lighter side of the spectrum if you are feeling self conscious about the body work.

Stick to single stage if you are new to spraying.

I prefer base/clear, but I work and spray often, so my confidence level is higher than most.
