Gonna get a manual,
Found a couple WRXs as well as a forester XT with a ton of STI aftermarket into it, would a pontiac be a bad choice?
Looking for ideas

Read this post. Guy is in similar price range. Used bmw's are fairly reliable + attention grabbers.

Will it cost more than a Pontiac for a part swap? yes. I would say 15-20% more, but 3 series are known to be reliable. These guys have amazing reliability ratings and are known to last longer than 150000miles easily. I would definitely consider a test drive on a 328i or xi if you need that awd.

It appears that you are looking for AWD. So if you do consider the e90, I would suggest AWD, stick, and in either alpine white/silver/charcoal. Those are the easiest colors to maintain.

just find a good smaller german shop, i use a shop that charged $75/hr for labor, real honest german dude owns it, he broke one of my vacuum lines and fixed it free instead of just telling me they were dry rotted and cracked

they recommend bmw specific oil that you cant really get unless youre a dealer, but you can get the oil filters from MANN really cheap, ive always used the bmw specific oil but theres guys who run royal purple and castrol synthetic and dont have problems

this is only related to 2006+ bmw's, dont really care for the old ones ugly as shit
