Whats up guys, so I own an 03 450r bike, and im starting to have some clutch issues so I figured i'd change my gear oil ( These bikes have 2 compartment, engine and trans oil)

I've read alot on google about what oil to put in the transmission side and im really lost.. I've heard 10w40 is good can I just put 10w40 car oil that I have laying around? Any help will be appreciated thanks

I own a trx450r so we have the same engine. What clutch problems are you having? If they're going bad then just change the clutch plates. I just put Tusk brand clutch plates in mine and it was really easy. They're only $50 and made a huge difference.

Also, you can use the same oil that goes in the motor side for it but I prefer to use the honda 90w gear oil like honda recommends. It may or may not make a difference but at least it gives me false security if anything lol.

You want an oil designed for wet clutches for the trans. Lots of guys run non synthetic Rotella 15w40. Rekluse recommends it for their clutches. That is the only auto oil i'd run. You want to look for JASO MA certification which is a standard for wet clutch oils.
