iphone5s

car charger is this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ISGCAJM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

so i plug it in and it charges, then stops charging and repeats endlessly, ultimately doing nothing but drain the battery. I have tried 2 different car chargers and im skeptical that they are both defected.

Is this a fault with the cigarette lighter?

last car charger held no charge and was claimed defected. So im just wondering if I got another defected product or its my cigarette lighter messing up the car chargers?

have you tried a different cable? and some cables arent really compatible out of the box i had a really nice one that would barely ever work with my 5s and other cheap ones that worked just fine. ive used those 2 in 1 plugs with the 2.1amp port with it and never had any troubles with them it was usually the cord.

heres one that looks similar to the ones i get. you can get them at gas stations or near checkout registers at stores. yours also says protects against short circuit etc in the description so maybe it could be getting a false positive through your cars electrical system making it shut itself off repeatedly.

i would try a spare charge cable you know is good that works elsewhere and if that doesnt fix it buy one of these basic chargers they work just fine. i drive a semi so im constantly having to charge my phone or bluetooth headset and the cheap ones does the job just fine.

could be your battery going out and not supplying enough voltage to the plug for it to charge .

Its the lighter socket almost guaranteed. They become very finicky with age.

go buy a stand alone 12v plug that you just wire in yourself then. it could be a wire loose on the back of the factory 12v or it could be somewhere else and its affecting that part. or go to the junkyard and get the 12v from a car there and switch yours out and maybe its in your plug itself.

i think the 5 and up require the actual Apple socket to work and charge, i've found out my 6 can only charge through the apple outlet.

Have tried the charger in my sisters car, works great. Put it in my car and it just repeatedly turns itself on and off.

So I'll just need to find another new 12v charger now? Or the cheap ones at gas stations? How cheap because the one I got was only 10 bucks I think that is pretty cheap.

if possible you shouldve tried her charger in your car that way you know for certain it is or isnt your cigarette lighter. or put your charger in someone elses car and see if it works.

but yeah sounds like another bad charger. i would get one of those basic ones that looks like what i posted and has the 2.1A port on it. dont get one that has that huge round plastic cap on the end those have been junk from what ive seen of them.
