when my car is in neutral I can move my stick to the left or the right and it will just stay there it won't pop back to the middle. it feels like it's getting stuck in thick oil or lube

crawl under the care and check the linkage/pull the boot/trim off and look

shifter spring could so how be getting stuck or the linkage is messed up.
