Proteges are great cars.

If you can get proof that the car has had a few of the following things done to it, you would be better off:

timing belt
Water pump
regular oil change intervals
wheel bearings
and some decent tread on the tires and I would probably choose that one.

Everything has been done but i forgot to ask about the water pump.

I just test drove it. it has a little bit of a rattle. no tap, no knock, a rattle. not sure if exhaust or engine.
