so i saw the story this morning sometime about him being airlifted from the track and the first mention was just that he pulled off the side and needed medical help. then it was he got into the wall a little and they took him to the hospital as a precaution and that it was pretty routine treatment and that he was awake and alert etc. now they are saying it was a pretty hard right side impact with the wall and theres video of him on a stretcher with sheets blocking public view of him being moved to the helicopter.

what the fuck is going on at f1 that they are trying to pass this off like its not a big deal when it certainly appears more serious than they are saying? is it normal for them to hang sheets around so people cant see them transporting an injured driver?

Only if he is dead/mangled or if there is a lot of blood.

Motorsports need to collectively get their heads out of their asses. F1, NASCAR, NHRA, etc. They couldn't make worse decisions if they tried.

there was most likely something wrong with the car, Vettel who was behind Alonso at the time said he suddenly went off the track and hit the wall multiple time before he lost sigh of him... Unofficial assumptions say it could be power shock or some dangerous fumes which could cause Alonso to lose consciousness.
team said he was talking to medics as soon as they came to the spot, but others say he was not conscious for at least 10 mins after the help arrived.
what ever seems to be the case, i hope he's ok and will recover quickly

found this, pics... crash doesn't seem bad, but the fact that he's in the car not moving and all the rescue coming isn't encouraging.

what does that do?

also just found this. apparently he suffered a concussion which would be why he was unresponsive at first.

McLaren gave an official statement:...

tl:dr
most likely it was the sudden wind that spun the car on the curve exit. he was braking and downshifting which suggests he was conscious in the time of impact. no mechanical, aerodynamic or electric malfunction was reported by the car. also the cockpit and the chassis were undamaged. Alonso is still in hospital to recover from the routine dose of sedatives given to him after the accident.
