2012 Ford Fusion SEL

I recently used my power window driver door and it went down ok.
On the way up it crept up very slowly. Then it stopped moving.
I could hear what sounded like grinding or gears turning loudly. Ice/cold some how?

Now I can move my window up and down with my hands freely. I can hear the gear churning.

My dad thinks maybe the vibration walked out the motor bolt over time and it fell out of the mount.

Ideas?
Cost to fix?

zero F today

Its no ice I think its just really cold metal that the motor gear is churning against since it fell off the track (guessing)

when you were rolling it up it started making like some nasty sounding noise right? like something getting crushed maybe? they have cables that pulls the window up and down and sometimes the cable gets wadded up around the pulley on the motor. i would suggest if you have the tools and know how to remove your door panel and check and im guessing the cable is fucked.

could be any number of things all of which get fixed by it not being so damn cold.

the rubber surround that is usually flexible becomes stiff which adds resistance
grease become thicker so there is less lubrication going on as well
those temps are hell on your electrical system. you could very well just be having voltage problems due to the cold.
and of those problems could of caused damage to the motor due to the increased stress on it

he said the window glass moves freely up and down now. that means the track isnt connected which means it has probably wadded up the cable and fucked it all up. not really that uncommon but damn the cars only 3 years old lol

i was thinking he meant he can pull up/push down on the window and use the button+hand to make it work not just it was straight up acting like it wasn't attached to anything.

yeah the only cars i've ever seen fail completely like that are pretty old so it didn't even cross my mind that it was just free floating in there being as it was still kinda new.

Window jumped off track. As long as its nit fbody doors you should be able to fix it easily.

@ Subwoofer - I don't think its the cold that's his problem. i own a 2010 fusion sport awd and the past few weeks we have seen -25 to -30 Celsius where i live. Edit- As cold as its been over the past couple of winters i've never had any electrical problems.

@ OP - My sister in law had this happen before on her dodge sx2.0 .I'll ask next time i see her and if your problem hasn't been solved yet ill pass on what she had done to fix it.
