So I got orders to Okinawa, I won't be bringing the NSX because I won't be able to bring 2 cars back. It will stay in California with the parents for the few years I'm gone. Needless to say I may start a GT-R build thread in the near future depending on what I find. I'll find something 25 years old by the time I return so I can bring it back. Expect more details in the future.

Drop it off with me; I'll keep it safe for you. :P

Is there much by way of car culture on Okinawa itself? Is it particularly difficult to get to the mainland when you're not on duty?

Isn't there some wierd clause where if you owned the car while you're over there you can bring it back regardless if you follow the right steps?

No you still have to follow the 25 year exemption rule for registering and making it DOT legal.

They will be flying the shit out of me there anyways, kadena is the only tanker base in Japan so no other options:-/. Better than Oklahoma which is where most booms head after their first assignment.

you may be thinking of the "substantially similar" clause, which doesn't work in most cases.
