Not sure if anyone in this forum has ever been around one of these units before or not.

Aside from the complete pain in the ass mounting position, how well do these work compared to a belt driven unit?

I obviously wont be using one on my challenger due to the mounting positions but it looks like a cool setup and I'm glad procharger got in on this.

Gear drive is for hardcore race cars only. It lets you turn the blower harder since there is no belt to slip. An auto drag car usually runs a cog drive which can be run on the street if you are careful. Any sudden rpm drops/peaks will shred the belt. Under 1500hp you are better off with an 8 or 10 rib belt setup if it is a street car or a clutched manual.

I can't even think of a street car that this thing would fit on to be honest. The mounting length is compact for whats out there but still very long by the time the gear box is put on it. Was just interested to hear about them.

I wont be running a procharger. My motor is built with an 871 with billet rotors. It's much cheaper to build a motor taller rather than longer :P

Who's blower is it? You have to spin an 8-71 pretty hard to make power.

It's a dyers.

I've never bought one of their blowers before but have had great luck with them servicing our weiand blowers in the past. They just have that good old boy customer service that's hard to find today. I've had a couple buddies run their blowers and had good luck with them so I'm going to give this one a go.

It's a 572ci motor so a 6-71 was a touch small for my end goals. (this is the same motor from the d100 truck I had.) I want to stay on race gas rather than alcohol so the guts were toned down from what they were. Still trying to decide on cam and heads at this point. We had it run on a dyno stand and the cam thats in it is really to aggressive for this new setup. The rotating assembly was pretty much fubar'd and needed to be rebuilt anyways as it had a few passes on it.

Car is still going to be a door slammer / 6 speed in the end. I'm really looking into the sequential shifting 6 speeds but don't know if I want to dive that deep into it yet. The car is being built with the texas invittional in mind and roll racing.

This is the challenger i presume? If you don't want to get shit on at the invitational, TX2K, and the like you need to ditch the blower and fab some twin 91mm turbos up. A blower car is going to make waaaaay too much heat in a mile run. You won't make it past the true street cars with that power level either. 1000whp barely gets you in the door these days.
