my grandfather has dementia and he sometimes gets outside and we dont know it. he likes to put my tailgate down on my truck for no reason. im afraid one day i wont notice it down and the stuff i have in the back will fall out when im going down highway or it blows out and hits a car or causes an accident.

is there any locks that will prevent a tailgate from being opened? not looking for a lock that keeps tailgate from getting stolen.

put it down yourself and then you'll remember its down.

i never leave it down. i want to lock it so he CANT put it down. say i dont know its down and something blows out going down highway and hits a car or they slam brakes to miss and a car hits him im still liable for the damages.

seems like all of this can be cured by you cleaning junk out of the bed.

lol wish it was that ez. i got spare tires in there which wont fit under truck in the spare tire place. i had to have exhaust worked on and only way to fix it was to take spare tire holder under truck off.

how about when you walk to your truck you glance at the tailgate and see in about 1/10th of a second that its down and you simply close it back? its not rocket science
