So yeah, my wife wants to buy a 2012 Prius, but the one she wants is in Iowa

That's a 9 hour drive from where I live.

I'll have to fly out there, take a cab to the dealership, and drive it back.

It's got ~65k miles on it, what are the odds that this vehicle will make it home?

(Dealership says it's all good to go, but seriously, I'd rather have an owners opinion)

Why does she want this one?

If it has to be this one, why not ask the dealership to put it on a train and send it out to you?

Umm....

Cost of plane + cost of gas + state taxes + transferring state tags to your state + state inspection = most expensive Prius in your area.

Tell her to want another one lol

Sadly it's about $6,000 less than similar ones in my state.

She wants it because she's a mail carrier, and cutting down on gas any way we can is a good thing.

She currently uses our Escape, and gets about 8 mpg on her route.

YAY for driving 120 miles over 6 hours stopping 600 times (not including stop signs)

Might want to consider something with better maintenance cost than a prius.

my parents have a prius and ive drove it a few times, they got theirs for $9,000 it was a 2010 i believe with 25k miles, it had a decent scratch on the back driver side though.

they never had problems and have it at about 50k miles now, been about 2 years since they bought it

its got one fucking gear though like wow, not bad on acceleration either

i can confirm that she will get great gas mileage even on stop and go routes

it actually excels in this area, it uses the backpressure build up when you let off the gas to charge the electric motor and also has an alternator that charges it so its running electric about 70% of the time you ARENT on the highway

when you get on the highway it will switch back and forth about every 5 minutes

they are pretty cool if you have the heads up display it actually shows you the energy consumption and whats being used and when its being most efficient
