Is 50-60mpg really achievable in a 1L small car, none motorway driving?

are you talking about that abortion hybrid where you can't see the back wheel?

if so I'd say sure it can be achieved, but I'd say it really depends on how the driver drives it, and how many passengers hes hauling.

Keep in mind to that manufacturers generally record the best MPG achieved at the most optimal driving (aka turning car off at lights, running no AC and shit that no one in the real world does)

edit: this car?

No I wasn't referring to that car, just a regular small car

I bought a Vw up yesterday hoping to get something similar to the claims people make online

50-60 just sounds high for petrol not diesel

ooooh in that case I'd say I doubt it unless you are traveling downhill on the freeway

It's possible but you won't consistently replicate it.

Ha. I was actually gonna suggest a Geo Metro, too. ;)

If you completely gutted a Metro, and had some way to make it more aerodynamic, you could maybe get 50 mpg for highway cruising, but I can't see a regular petrol car getting that kind of mpg for city / street driving.
