Hey guys,
First of all, thanks for checking out this thread, I appreciate the help. I have nearly zero experience when it comes to modifying cars (except a few maintenance things and audio). The next car I plan on purchasing I'd like to be a "project" car; something I can work on and learn from, while thoroughly enjoying driving it. I'll put some information below in a list format so it's easier to see what I'm after:
    Budget for car: $7,000 (upfront)
    Budget for mods/parts: $10,000 over a year
The car should have a good amount of resources online to reference (ex: Civic)
Weather Conditions: I live in Atlanta, only thing I really need to worry about is rain  My occasional drive to visit family in NY would be during non-winter months.
The car does not have to have a significant interior (Ex: Elise). I have a car for daily driving to work. Should be nice enough for long joy rides however.

Few quick pieces of info I like about cars to help with recommendations:
    1. My favorite car in the world, which I hope to buy at some point when I'm older is the '05 Lotus Elise. I've driven one a few times when I was back in NY.
    2. Manual tran is a must

If I can think of anything else, I'll add it. Certainly if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and I'll address them.

I know they get a lot of hate but as a project car and something to just have fun with / learn / work on / plenty of info on the web... DSM!

Although, you budget is pretty high for that lul. Could find something much nicer, was just the first thing that came to mind!

Just to be clear, you guys are serious about the Miata stuff? I've heard a lot of hate about people tuning Miatas.

DSM was Chyrs/Miti partnership right? What car would you be referring to? :o
(Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question - I could be totally mislead here  )

Plymouth Laser, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Eagle Talon come to mind immediately xD Obviously the Eclipse is pretty well known, try looking up the other two! :D

e; Also friend had a pretty fun 6th gen turbo Galant back in HS..

Widely known for having to be worked on a LOT especially since usually anyone that owns them (besides the real hardcore guys) drive them into the ground
