So I want to buy a first car, one preferably with not more than 130k miles cuz I feel that's a lot for me since I'm short on money and dont want it to be in need of a fix soon after i buy it. I heard some cars like Hondas and Nissans and I forgot which ones else can last a long time milewise but Im not very informed.
I know cars need to be taken care of, and I want to do that. but...

Which car brand would you guys recommend me buying for my first car and around what mileage should it be? Don't want something too expensive either, so not new XD

Or if this is easier to answer, which types of cars should I stay away from?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

keep insurance rates in mind, avoid salvage titled cars, always have someone mechanically inclined look it over before buying.

edmunds.com has general reviews for most car models so if you find one that fits your needs just look up online reviews and common problems with them as well as recall notices.

american/asian models tend to be cheaper to fix whereas european models tend to cost more to fix.

you just wanting some 30mpg+ econobox? civics/accord are generally good choices in the $3-5k range

I've tried looking for those cars alot, but most of em are super old with super many miles and usually 3.5k+ I can't afford atm. And people want to sell em for more O.o
Think you could recommend me another car?O.o

/e My mom looked at some mitsubishi cars not too old with not too many miles. How are those?

thats because people think honda's are the holy grail of cars so they charge a lot more, when in reality they're cheap pieces of shit and feel cheap when you're inside one.

Look for like a Toyota.. They last forever too. So do honda's but you can find an older toyota for cheaper than a honda..

STAY away from mitsubishi..they are absolutely horrible. money pits

Brand does not matter that much when getting into something that high of mileage. Majority will depend on how it was driven by previous owners.

If you were buying something new and wanted it to last to 300k+ miles I'd go (import) Nissan, Toyota and third choice being the American made Ford brand, but not necessarily in that order.

imo - look for a Ford Focus.

Everyone says Honda's....they are the econo-box from Japan. If you buy an older Honda with over 100k miles I'd also save some $$ and pay to have the timing chain replaced.
