Looking for some ideas for a winter setup. Tahoe was stolen and need me a replacement.

I have been looking at trucks mostly but what I want for my budget isn't there, so I am considering a WRX/STI.

Currently looking at ~08 WRX/STI with under 100k km(60k miles).

Reliability?
Comfort? (drive 8-10 hour trip 2/month)
Handling in the snow? (Major factor - Long hauls are through the mountains in PA and I plow snow here in Ontario and go out in the worst conditions)

Basically I need something that can get me from Point A to B regardless of the weather all while being comfortable.

Am I better off biting the bullet and getting a truck or is a WRX/STI worth a look? Other opinions on options are always welcome. (Budget is around 20k with some wiggle)

Thanks!

Love the GM 14s but the price is nuts. Would take 09+ ford or GM truck wise.

My problem is with the amount I drive I want to like what I'm driving. And dropping 20k on something I'm not huge on seems like a waste.

Sounds like you've already decided against a truck then.
I prefer trucks now. :)

Get a wrx then
get some bad ass winter tires and stud them

don't put them on till the snow is there to stay, and have at er.

I love trucks personally, just the budget that argues with what I would like in one.

Im stuck with 3 options,

a. YOLO and buy the truck I want
b. Buy a truck I am not huge on but gets the job done
c. Buy a smaller vehicle (STi/something good in the snow) that has AWD

If I am not mistaken studs are banned in Ontario so that'd be a no go, but the STI I am considering comes with a brand new set of winters which is a plus.

Thanks for the input guys appreciate it.

Sticking a plow on the front?

I would. Probably be the best plow vehicle around town

Shouldn't be too hard to find a decent used pickup for a decent price. Around here they are selling new 14s crew cab 4x4 for 38k and the double cab for 34k with navigation and heated seats and shit. From 2007 and up I really like the inside of the cabs and how they drive.
