Got home from work today wife says . Fuck it I'm driving the keep until it drops. I have a bad feeling about putting a new engine in it.... I'm in such a cluster fuck right now . Stress is taking over and I'm losing my mind

Mower also broke. Dog is pregnant my olds needs a starter and a tire + insurance. Rip my mind

Give it time. The current engine will most likely buy you some.... So you can reevaluate the situation at a later date.

Perhaps when you aren't so busy/stressed.

Don't make more work for yourself now, when you are planning on doing that same work eventually regardless.

At least the wife seems pretty cool with the idea of driving it, and is aware of its faults. That's a plus.
