Im into science more then anything but history is really close. Medieval era is my favorite in history (5th-15th century). Alot of the books i read spawn from that era or have ties to that sort theme.(Stephen King, Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, RA Salvatore, Glen Cook, Joe Abercrombie, Patrick Rothfuss, George RR Martin, Tolkien, etc)

Most people refer to medieval era when talking about things, but late medieval / start of the renaissance (mid 1400s ish) is what most people are actually referring to. The time where technology was at its peak before the introduction of black powder/gun powder and guns/cannons. Where shit like advanced trebuche's wreaked havoc on strongholds, especially the monstrosity made by the scotts. ie"the Warwolf" <- google that shit lol

When going for my machining degree i took extra classes on metallurgy and forging techniques because at some point i want to make my own "medieval" weapons and armor because i love that sort of shit. Id also like to get some formal training on era based leather curing/tanning/hardening methods because a good studded leather set would go good with the plate mail lol

So no, you are not alone in that aspect. I would enjoy to be back in that time a lot more because all the dipshit cunts that are allowed to progress through society unchecked these days would be killed off quick or be forced in subservience or slave labor where they belong. Where us physically and more importantly, intellectually, superior people reign over those poor excuses of lifeforms. The squalor will be put down where they belong. Oh how i long for that to be possible. But, alas, it can only be enjoyed in fantastical deliberation.

Thats why i read as many books as i do that take a settings in that era. It brings me comfort to be taken to a world of raw rightful brutality that i greatly wished was still present to squelch the voice of the unintelligible,the irrational, the illogical, and mostly the culmination of all of those, the religious.
