http://www.newcars.com/how-to-buy-a-new-car/black-book-appraisal.htmlBlack book it. Gives you average trade in and average resale (well, you can't get that on this site but you can on other sites). Check sites like autotrader as well, but blackbook is the best resource.
A 2012 R-Line CC with automatic transmission black books to between 12,000-and 16,000 for trade-in. Resale to non-dealers is usually $2000 above for cars under $30,000, so 14,000-and 18,000 for private sale.
http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2012/volkswagen/cc/Motortrend gives the R-Line CC about $19,000 average resale value.
If you want to sell private, use e-b-a-y classifieds, Craigslist, and Autotrader. List on all, find out how much you want for it, and put it up for $1000 over that with a OBO tag. Cars that aren't grossly overpriced sell pretty quickly on those sites. There's always people looking for relatively new high end entry level cars.
Don't know why you would want to trade a CC in unless you were moving up to a prestige brand though. I have a 12 Highline CC with R-Line options (Think that's the luxury trim in the US) and I'll probably keep it till 2016.before I decide if I need an SUV (Touraeg, Q5/Q7, entry level Cayenne) or move to something like an S6.
