Hello guys, I'm trying to find a guide for how to replace a power steering pump on a 2004 VW GLX Passat with the v6 30v B5 engine. Is there anything like that, or maybe a universal sticky i could use as a guide?

my best suggestion, is to spend the 20$ and get a repair manual for your car, they are handy to have around. you can get them at most auto part stores.

I did mine on my chevy PU it was fairly basic. The only special tool you will most likely need is a pulley puller. I would run new pressure and return lines while you are there. Also I would try to flush out your steering box or any place residual old fluid may be to make sure no debris clog's up the new pump.
and +1 on getting a manual..you will thank us later

i personally use a turkey baster to get the majority of the fluid out, way easy
or you could crack the line and turn the wheel to push the fluid, but that can/does make a mess.
i also, would replace the pressure lines

If it's rack and pinion (which it should be) I would replace the pump and any hoses that look sketchy and leave it at that. If you start introducing air into the steering rack itself you can cause yourself a lot of trouble.
