So yea recently I've realized that my fuel door lever is abnormally hard to pull. The fuel door pops open, but everytime I'm scared it snaps..

I tried to pull the lever while the fuel door is opened and its still hard. So i'm guessing rust has started to build up somewhere in the cable?

Should I bring it to the dealer and insist on fixing it due to the car not having that many miles...?

Any input on that subject would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Can you access the point where the cable goes into it's sheath? If so you could try to lube it with some spray lube.

I guess I can remove the trunk/fuel door levers on the drives side and access to the cabe. I could see if the ersistance is in the lever or the cable itself

It's probably the cable. And it's probably within the first foot from either end, or a low point in the middle that has started to seize.

either way...the car is far from old and onl has 45k miles....not supposed to happen in my opinion

ill try and get the dealer to look into it see if I can save myself from that hassle.

Does it look like the fuel door shuts perfectly or is it uneven? If it's slightly open dirt and water could be getting in. Maybe try to grease the hinge.

So yea I took off the plastic cover where the trunk and fuel door levers are (front driver's side on the floor)

It was rusty...so i started by spraying the whole mechanism with rust penetrator, let it sit for couple minutes...then washed...repeated that like 3 times

then I sprayed WD40 and played with the levers for a while, it got A LOT better..

glad It was as simple of a fix as that ;)
