any of you guys ever tried it? I got everything set up and did a couple small parts, might try a wheel tomorrow if I can get a jig mocked up.

Looking for ideas, stuff I can powder coat and sell. I am going to buy a cheap wrench set, drill holes for screws, bend them in a J shape and powdercoat... something to sell on the. bay or something as wall hangers, and I want a set to hang my power tools up instead of them cluttering my tool drawers. Looking for ideas like that...got any?

I did a couple new shifter knobs, sold one already lol, couple more of those and I'll have my money back I've invested in the equipment.

I do all of my own powder coating. I'm between big ovens right now, so I'm limited to only my small convection oven currently.

And from my experience, you'll make way more money if you offer it as a service. Lots of people have brackets, wheels, suspension components etc that they want coated. This takes the guess work out of wondering what parts would make you profit.

I'm sure you know how much powder coaters charge.( That's what made me learn how to do it myself. Other than being overly curious.)

Advertise it as a service, and the customers will come to you. I'd say weekly I get at least one person bringing in some random brake caliper, or hood props, door strikers, you name it really.

It's wicked fun isn't it?

Hah yea it actually is.. I'm digging up every old part I've hoarded trying to powdercoat it.

I don't know if I'm ready to offer it up as a service yet. Doing two tone i end up with rough edges when i peel the tape off and I don't know how to fix that yet. And after cleaning my own parts I'm not too eager to clean other peoples parts.. I suppose you could call it lazy but I don't want to spend days scrubbing grease.

When you do wheels, does it matter if you coat the inside lip where the tire seals?

You'll be fine if you coat the beaded lip. The only time I'd think it may be a problem is if you're using a wrinkle/crinkle/textured powder.

Pretty awesome no trolls yet. I need to get some clear powder to clearcoat some of my newest projects. Prismaticpowders has 1lb for $13+13 shipping. Is there a cheaper place to get powder?

Best bet would be to find someone that buys in volume and piggy back off of them. We pay less then $5/lb where I work for some common powders.
