When i first start my truck in the morning (1991 Mazda B-2200) it sounds like there is an exhaust leak coming from the engine, and gets A LOT louder once i start driving but quickly goes away, after about a mile or 2 there isn;t any trace of the noise even when i rev the crap out of it....

PLEASE HELP... don't want to pay a mechanic to tell me he doesn't know....

Lifters are tapping. Does it do it more when you let off the gas? Mine did. For a long, long time.

Crack in the manifold would be my guess, or a bolt isn't tight. When the metal gets hot it expands and in your case, not leak.

Yeah not at idle. Under throttle but worse when you let off and coast is what i meant. Sounds terrible. Bunch of clattering...

So in this thread we have a guy who doesn't think a mechanic would be able to figure put what his problem is by actually inspecting the vehicle so the obvious solution is to vaguely describe his problem on d2jsp. I'm sure within the next hour or so someone will be able to post not only whether it even is an exhaust leak or not but also tell you where it's leaking to the square inch.

He didn't say a mechanic wouldn't be able to tell him what's wrong, he said he doesn't want to pay for one for the possibility of the mechanic saying he doesn't know. It doesn't hurt to come on here first in case it is just a minor fix.
