Mazda
Protege
1999
1.6 DOHC
5speed manual
172 000 kms

So yesterday I heard something shaking under the front left and checked it to see my link it is unplugged.

The wheel part cannot go throught the tire or wheel or brake.

How bad and dangerous is it to drive it for ~ 550kms of highway before fixing it ?

sway bar keeps your car from body rolling in curves. just dont take any curves at a high rate of speed and you will be fine. its not in any danger of interfering with any other moving parts is it?

also i have the same car and the motor is anemic you shouldnt be in any danger of taking curves very fast to begin with.

its the truth. thank god for a 5 speed so you can get the rpms up manually i cant imagine that motor with an automatic behind it. however on the highway i do get like 34 mpg so that does make it worth it.

haha yeah it's out of range of any moving part so it should not touch anything.

I have this car for like 4 years and yeah this engine is anemic but who cares? It was for my everyday driving.

At the moment my girlfriend use it so I looked at a mecanic shop and posted here.

I have a video of me doing 155 with it haha, it's the fastest I've ever been able to get xD

If my sway bar came detached I'd just take the whole thing off rather than risk it getting caught on something. It's probably only a few bolts and it's not like it's serving any function at all if it's detached. It's also not like you really need it.
