Went out and got myself an ODBII reader. Google says it's the air intake temperature.

Guy at the shop suggested replacing the air filter, but I don't understand how that'd trip the sensor?

Not that a filter is particularly expensive, but the filter doesn't look particularly dirty, and I don't want to just shotgun parts at the problem until something sticks.

Worth changing the filter, or is there something else I should be checking first?

Isn't the air intake temperature a sensor?

Pull the IAT sensor and clean it. Ohm it if you have a multimeter. If the code comes back replace it.

I was pointing out the obvious...

If code says bad o2 sensor first thing I'd think to check is the o2 sensor not the muffler bearing..

The guy who runs the shop is solid, but he was out. This was one of the mechanics working under him.

I'm willing to give dude benefit of the doubt, with something lost in translation (English was very obviously not his primary language.)

He had run a reader prior to me getting my own, and was gesturing around the IAT sensor.

His English WAS clear enough to get across "parts and labor" to me, which is what prompted me to get my own reader. :P

Sonofa...

The sensor was fine.

The HARNESS was fuxored. Didn't notice it previously, but right where the red lead went into the harness, it was crimped so badly that it was actually broken.

Repaired the lead into the harness, able to clear the light normally. Aiya. >_<

On the upside, it wasn't something more expensive. Thanks again for the input, peeps. :)
