So, common knowledge that properly inflated tires give you better mileage.

...

Why is that? Less rolling resistance?

(The random things I think of when I'm driving to pick up lunch...)

I never looked it up, but I would assume when a tire is under inflated it has a flat spot on whichever part is touching the road, and each time the tire moves it has to squash the sidewalls as it rolls. It probably takes more power to move.

the more rubber that touches the ground, the more resistance. and thus worse gas mileage.

if you want baller mpg just over inflate.

If it's over the cost, it's better to be at the exact psi recommanded.

If you overinflate them you willl destroy them very fast :(

the more a tire can grip the ground, the better it is at handling turns.

the wider the tire, the more it can grip the ground.

the more it grips the ground, the more force it requires to go against increase in friction.

i never said it was good for the tire, but you will get better mgp.
