Tbh ive never rode/drove anything really fast, besides an old truck my dad he put a built 383 in.
Whats the general love/hate towards this car? Stock Cobalts have I think 160hp and the one he has being 260hp weighing in at under 3k lbs.
Mid 5's 0-60 mid-high 13's so nothing impressive to you guys but ha, I liked it.

Buddy I work with has an 09 Cobalt SS Turbo, real clean car, all stock atm.
He don't really race he says but the other day he did for the first time (recently got it, previous was a 06 Supercharged one) so I wanted to see what it had.

After work before I went home we went for a quick cruise around the block, I was impressed, that little fucker could move and would grip the shit out a turn, we went about 75 80 around a downhill sharp turn and my asshole was about this big --> o

Whats the general love/hate towards this car?

I want to one day get a LS1 Camaro (my first car was a 3.8 Camaro RS, super fucking clean but super fucking slow lol, so I sold it and bought a big ass gas guzzling truck for now)
Ive read LS1's stock aside from a lid or something maybe with slick and run high 12's
I'd say the LS1 with an = driver would beat the Cobalt SS, he thinks otherwise.

The hate is it's a car that cost under $25 k, has a plastic dash board, and it built to get good mpg.

they then came out with the di tc in 2008 with 260 hp, and ppl lold
but the long term owners are die hard and love their cars

Yes their cheap and simple, but loads if fun and easy to work on. I mean 300 hp in that car is a few basic mods away

Ya he loves it, as I said he had a 06 SC one previously and he says this Turbo'd one is faster.
He likes its quick enough to have fun in and still get some good mpg driving like an asshole.

He plans to do some mods to it, got a stage 2 turbo or some shit along with exhaust a chip etc.

He is nuts though, I like the car and all, id drive the fuck out of it but I lol at him sometimes.
Telling me a 300$ chip is gonna add like 40 hp or something, I can't remember how much he said.
But I lol'd hard at him, he's full of shit or thinks imma fuckin idiot, if that was the case everyone would be doing that...

i hope your friend knows more than you for argument purposes. there is no st2 turbo, and no 'chips' do anything good.

tell him to go to cobaltss.net before he orders ANYTHING. lol a chip adding 40 hp is a joke, even 5 hp is funny as hell.

I had a neon srt 4 which is a very similar car to the cobalt, in all honesty it was my favorite daily driver I have owned. Mine was full bolt on's with full fuel mods etc so I was making 330-340 whp with 400+ tq to the wheels. People who talk shit, just let them it's your car so enjoy it. I loved the neon because people would talk shit then I would stomp them in a race lol, at the end of the day it is a fast econobox and does what it is supposed to extremely well.

Keep in mind though you could also get a used mustang or lsx car for a similar price. And if you get an LSX car it will get pretty close gas mileage to a cobalt SS

By the way a chip or flash tune can and will add 40 hp if it ups the boost as I am thinking it does, my buddys super charged car gained like 30 hp from a tune so the turbo one should gain even more

9k is a good price if miles are low... some of these cars are still going for 14k +

Im not hating on his car, I like it but that's basically what I told him.

just so you know a tune will add 40 hp easily to this car.

going from 12-14 pounds of boost to 18+ is a big bump in power

and 9k shit man that's a deal and a half I wish I could find one for the price around me lol I would buy it in a heart beat.

He said he was gonna up the boost to the max it was able, or something, over 20+ which again idk shit about cars but to me that sounds like a LOT of a DD, I though 9 or less was ideal if anything.
