Hi, I don't know much about cars, I'm an aircraft mechanic and have very little background in recip engines..

so my old jetta seems to run a little hot especially when I'm sitting in traffic (on the highway it's noticeably cooler). I'm wondering if part of it is because the plastic engine cover is sitting in my garage and not installed. I know on airplanes which have recip engines there's tons of baffling and airflow control, so I'm just wondering if I put the cover on will it increase airflow and ultimately cooling or will it just trap hot air and make it worse. I can't find much on google to explain if it aids in airflow.
