Don't be afraid of the 4.3. Solid engine. I've seen some oil leaks out of them, but just add oil and keep driving.
Basically the same problem as my girlfriend's car. Just gotta keep dumping oil into it.

Gas eaters for how small they are, rear ends like to grenade, and they eat motor mounts and if u have to replace the heater core it's gunna cost u 1200$ for some one to do
I was incredibly fortunate to have my cousin replace the heater core on my '95 Buick Century for only the cost of parts. I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping me again if it came down to it, but in any case, I appreciate the feedback.

This, and idk if its something to do with the special antifreeze stuff, or mixing it with other kinds...or what it is..but it seems to happen kind of often. I've known atleast 5 people who've owned either the Jimmy, or the Bravado, or Blazer, and they've never had a working heater.
Most folks just bypass it instead of dropping the cash to have it done. Or you could leave it and wait for it to puke on your passenger's feet...but then the car would always smell like it was overheating lol
The mileage is kinda crap. Especially if you're looking to get a 4wd. Gets about the same as an old 350. The rest is alright. Good point a-b kind of deal. Not sure I'd trust it to tow much, and I wouldn't expect it to be real fast. But it should last you a while.
Yeah, I don't expect the mileage to be amazing or anything. I was getting about 18-20 MPG out of my '95 Buick Century, so I'm thinking a Jimmy will be
close to that. I could be horribly mistaken. And expectedly a 4x4 will have poor-ish gas mileage, but it's a very nice thing to have living in Michigan.
And as far as towing, I don't know how much I would do that, but I honestly don't drive MUCH. Especially seeing as most of what I do is go to and from work. Which is about 10 miles there and back.
Thanks for the feedback by the way.

I loathe these things. Rear ends do like to grenade, the intakes leak around the corners constantly if you keep dex cool in them. Haven't had to do too many heater cores on em. Biggest PITA for me is that the front door hinge pins tend to wear out the bushings and the door sags, they are a bitch to replace without the specialty tool or a helper. The ignition switch that goes out is the electrical part that runs from the switch down to behind the panel under the steering wheel.
One thing I noticed about the Jimmy in particular I looked at is that the passenger door squeaked like crazy. I'm thinking some grease would solve the problem in this particular scenario though.
