My dad and uncles always talk about how they would backfire their old chevelles and broncos in bad parts of town and shit would be cash. I have a truck capable of it, and I know how to do it, but I'm too much of a pussy to actually try it.

What are the chances I blow a hole in my exhaust or manifold? I'm assuming the longer you let the fumes build, the higher chance.

I'm assuming you are talking about mounting a bbq grill lighter in the exhaust. Pretty cool on come old rat rods, probably not good for the exhaust.

Not that high. You mount the ignition source at the end of the tailpipe for a reason. If it was close enough to the exhaust manifold to blow a hole in it you have a way higher chance of getting exhaust reversion and scorching valves.
