So later next week ive gotta watch my parents house for two days while they are gone. I figure I can use that time to detail my car top to bottom since theres a ton of garage space for me to use.

Usually my car is spotless because I clean it all the time but th constant below zero temps here and not having a garage at my own house have prevented me from doing so.

Any recommened detailing products?
If I get one of those polishers/waxer (whatever theyre called) whats the pro/con of cheap one vs more exepnsive one? ive never used one, is it something I could easily damage my car with? is it easy?

thanks guys!

What is the car?

Look up some YouTube videos on how to use a buffer. You could get away with a cheaper one instead of spending a lot on one you probably wouldn't use often.

Depending on how detailed you want to get it can take hours n hours.

Meguiars products.

Ultimate compound.

Showcar shine

And their stepped sand/polish/buff systems.

And if you've never used a buffer before. Don't try to learn on your own car.

Buff by hand. It'll take a little longer, but you won't destroy your paint by burning through.

If you insist on learning to buff.

A few rules:

Let the buffer do the work

Always keep moving

AVOID body lines like the plague

Don't ever ever ever exceed 2500-3000 rpms.

PM me if you have any super specific questions.

Yea Meguiars for sure.

A tip to keep in mind:
Make sure the cloth that you use for ANYTHING on your car is clean. A dirty rag can cause scratches. Especially if you drop the rag on the ground then pick it up and use it.

I use meguiars products on my car. And how far you go really depends on how crazy you get. At the bottom is a good flow chart from autogeek.

I would definitely recommend getting a clay kit (the meguiars one is around $20), it makes a huge difference.

Last year I did Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax. This year I'm going to add in the Glaze and Sealant in between Polish and Wax, supposed to make it even shinier and the sealant makes it last longer. And don't get a regular/cheap buffer, what you want is a dual action polisher. It makes it almost impossible to mess up your paint. I have this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Professional-Dual-Action-Polisher/dp/B002XOXSI2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393675459&sr=8-2&keywords=meguiars+dual+action+polisher and you need appropriate pads for it as well (one for compound, one for polish, one for finish). And the first time I used it was on my C6, super easy to use, impossible to mess up if you can read
