Personally I don't own the car but I'm looking into buying one. I found one in my area for a decent price; the only problem is that the Apex Seal is broken.

Not sure if it costs a shit ton to replace that, or if replacing the engine would be the correct way to go.

rebuild it with new parts is the only way to go.... if you are replacing it with a used engine with unknown condition, how long you think that's going to last? But if your not mechanically inclined I'd stay away from rotary.

Even if you are aty away from them. Parts to rebuild the engine run around 1600$, and after the machanics fees your in it for 3500$+. These are a horrible design, and fail every 80-120k miles.

The Renesis isn't the Rotary you want to start with.

Wouldn't call it horrible, more so unique. 1.3L pushing 232 (200 realistic) hp is pretty impressive. Knock on wood I am at 70k and she run's like a dream since new.

I would be leery with any engine issues when buying this car. They do like people have stated have a tendency to shit on people.

Couldn't ask for more out of a car in terms of the enjoyment to drive. Many cars are faster etc. but none (in my opinion) come close on fun to drive.

If you have any questions about it feel free to PM. I am not a car junkie so if its a complicated question I may not be able to help you, but could direct you in the right way.

They are a horrible design until we get the materials to properly make them. There are many cars more fun to drive, like its little brother the MX-5 ( which shares the same platform). When you buy a car knowing its going to need an engine rebuild every 80-120k, unless you have tons of money I don't understand why people get them. They're OK to drive until then, and there are much better options for the price. I don't understand Mazda's plan with this, I don't think it should be legal to put these in factory production cars.

$200 for scrap after taking maybe 1-2 things off to sell.
We are all now 21-22 years old.
