Buying a truck soon, will be going with a used one. Looking at a Trailblazer, I really wanted to grab an SS but the increased performance and gas guzzling aren't worth the extra money for me right now.

I'll probably go with an LT, or even an LS if I can find a nice one. I have about $10-12k to spend on it up front. What's a huge difference between the two trim packages? They seem so similar, I know the LT is just a different package that can have more to it but what are the differences?

Also, anyone own a Trailblazer and have any opinions on it? I'm probably going to grab a black one, probably 60-90k mileage range. Throw some tint on it, get 4 new rims and tires (black rims with chrome lip) and a few other upgrades. Trying to find black interior also.

Every person I've known to own a base Trailblazer has had transmission issues. The SS is the only way to go.

The non SS has a 4L60E, the SS has a 4L70E. The SS will have no better luck with the trans since it makes 120hp more than the I6. The 4.2 I6 was on wards 10 best engines list and gets 20mpg hwy. I have a friend that owns a 4.2 LT and a TBSS. He modded the 4.2 for fuel economy and now averages 20mpg combined. Thats actually pretty good for a 5000lb mid size SUV.

Just like all other chevrolet stuff certain options can only be had in the LT. At this point the prices shouldnt fluctuate much based on options.

Not really, the 2004 TB gets 16 or 17 MPG.

And that's one of the older ones.

That's pretty damn good for a truck that size...

4.2 i6 also takes 7 quarts of oil so get ready for an expensive oil change. i had a trailblazer and it was alright. mine had the third row seating and it probably got 15mpg at best and it was a 2 wheel drive. i didnt like it really. nice room but overall i wasnt pleased with it. also you said you were going to buy a truck and then said trailblazer. please dont confuse the 2. a truck has a bed on it.

This. I drove an 05 4.2 that had the all time 4wd, with 4wd-low shifter, etc...it got complete shit for mileage. Worse than the old ass LTD I drive now. Also, get ready to hate that interior if you go with one thats an 05. May have improved in later models, but meh...

For the mileage u get and the small room just get a full size Tahoe. You'll be happier.
