"needs a timing belt"

Usually means it needs a new head for the motor too. When timing belts snap, it usually bends valves.

Can you afford to replace the head on a CTS?

How much would a repair like that cost?

I know a few professional mechanics that said they could do it out of their garage, but i still don't know what it would cost.

You should read that ad again if you think all it needs is a timing belt.

No idea really, I dont really touch Caddy's. 500-1500ish is what I've been finding on Google. But you also have to figure in shipping, and labor.

You'd also probably need a headgasket kit as well as some other odds and ends.

Yeah, i've gotten the same thing, i just dont want to get into it, and realize that i fixed one thing, but 3 other things are broken also.

It's a gamble, it's super nice, and if everything worked out, it would be a great buy, but its a big gamble.

Bottom line is you shouldn't even be looking at it if you don't know that much.

There's some heads on google for $600 + shipping that are fully assembled.
